I can't believe I'm going to Europe!
Wow! I never thought that I would actually be able to go to Europe! Especially not before I'm like 40! But this summer, I will be flying to Berlin, Germany, and then taking the train into Krakow, Poland to study the history of the Holocaust and World War II with an AMAZING history professor here at Texas A&M! We will be living in a medical school dorm at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. I will get to see some amazing things, such as the Zakopane Mountains in the Carpathians, the salt mine, and the grand opera, as well as some very humbling things, such as Auschwitz-Birkenau and Oskar Schindler's camp and factory in the Jewish quarter of Krakow. Sometime in the middle of my trip, I will travel to Prague in the Czech Republic and get to stay in a real, live hostel for a few days and see the sights, taste the food, and meet the people. From there, I will head back to Krakow for the rest of my stay in Poland to finish up my classes there. Then after the main trip is over, I will take the train back into Berlin where my friend Katleen will meet me and I will then stay with her and her family for several days in Germany! Whew! Can't wait! Well, that's all for now! I will write more later!
